Tucked within the longleaf pine forests north of Charleston, SC, The Murray represents a new generation of multifamily living that caters to the needs of the young and the young at heart. The expansive amenity building is constructed in a sleek, “lowcountry meets industrial” style with heavy emphasis applied to the contrast of exposed wood and raw steel. Inside, the juxtaposition of the two materials continues, this time set against a clean, white backdrop. Rich amber tones complement sapphire accents, both drawn from the nearby Ashley River. A nod to traditional Lowcountry culture can be seen in the abstract interpretation of a fishing net, brought to life by a custom-patterned mosaic floor in the leasing office. Sinker cypress, another link to the River, lends its distinctive golden & olive graining to wood-look surfaces throughout the amenity building. The lofty entrance to the clubhouse frames a massive two-story chimney, clad from floor to ceiling in charred black brick and featuring an enlarged hearth that doubles as a seating area. Throughout the clubhouse, furniture was custom-built to ensure not only a casual, relaxed atmosphere but also an ergonomic and supportive experience. With something for everyone, The Murray’s amenity building is a perfect blend of local culture, boutique detailing, & contemporary style.
