Wow…what a year! To say that 2021 put a lot on our plates is an epic understatement. But there have also been a lot of wonderful opportunities in the surreal teeth of a global pandemic. As we close out this year, our appreciation for our clients, both old and new, feels somehow different and special.

We did a lot at BB+M this year, and out of curiosity, we did the math. You may be as surprised as us to know we worked on over $2.6 billion in project value in design and construction this year. (Yeah, that’s a “B”)!  The responsibility that comes with that number is humbling and is why our team is laser-focused every day. We are astounded at the strength and resilience of our BB+M squad as we navigated cycles of remote work and temporary office relocations, all while striving to keep our clients front and center. Our team has grown this year as we’ve added 15 talented folks to our rockstar roster. And many have also grown themselves…6 have become registered Architects, 4 were promoted to Associate, and 2 have become licensed Interior Designers.

We also scored some hardware this year! Together we’ve created some incredible projects that have been recognized with design awards. Some of those are:

• AIA North Carolina 2021 Design Awards: Honor Award – Camp North End
• AIA Charlotte 2021 Design Awards: Citation Award – Quest at Latta Nature Preserve
• Building NC 2021: Residential Award – The Edge Apartments
• IIDA Carolinas Chapter 2021 Design Works: Honorable Mention, Design Detail – Crescent Communities Escent Research Park

As we all look forward to a brighter 2022, one particular bright spot for us is that we will be moving into our new office in February! We are thrilled to transition into this purpose-built space designed for fun and productive collaboration among our team and partners. It’s going to be a game-changer!
